It has been observed that when a person dies, his relatives and friends normally say about him ,"He had a very strong will power." Perhaps that is the reason he died. So ask yourself, "Is claiming to have a strong WILL POWER, a negative expression or a positive one?"

Dear Dr. Chopra,

My understanding of a strong Will Power is that it can both be Positive or
Negative, it depends how that Will Power is used, because as I see it Will
Power is an attribute which only exibits real Power when it is put into
action, so, I would look on Will Power as a tool to be used, and it can only
become Positive or Negative depending on the conscieousness of the
user...Am I wrong?

Good morning Maria,

"Will" is what makes us different from animals, when we were created
we were created with a "Free Will" Will to make our choices whatever they
may be. So "Will" is indeed a power that when used wisely it can be awesome.

"Will" is much missused by many to their missguided benefit, when they
use their "Will Power" to control other fellow beings as well as animals.
Remember back to the days of slavery!

Our Creator gave us "Free Will" so we can evolve, through our decisions
and our experiences, back to the source, where we came from.

Of course this view of mine is a very subjective one, as it is my view,
others may have their own view on the matter, which may differ,
however, their view is also a subjective one to themselves, but what is
important is not that different people have different views, what's
important is; both are sides of the same coin. Our respective evololusion
will move according to where each of us are on our path. There is no
good or bad, better or worse way to move in our path of evolusion, only
our own pace. Each individual at their own speed! But we are all traveling
to the same destination.

Now I think that will power is neutral. It can be used for good and bad deeds depending on the person who posses it Smile

Will Power is a delicate phenomenon. Will means desire and desire is emotional. We all know emotions have a weak base. When power is installed on the weak base, it will simply destroy the base. Just for example: A person has a massive heart attack and he says that he has a strong will power and he will climb the stairs. He takes couple of steps and is collapsed. While the fact is that in a situation is a massive heart attack even one step can be dangerous. He used his will power and died.

Hi Dr Chopra!

I don't want to argue - I'm just asking because I don't understand.

Is a person who kills another person for money delicate and emotional? Is it possible to be as cold and indifferent as are the bad guys in the movies who kill without feeling sorrow? I think a lot of will power is needed to kill - don't you think so?

Hi Maria,
I welcome your question as it is emerging out from the base of purity.

Will power is normally the expression used when they mean they are determined indeed. Determination and even will power are used by people for achieving their goals. Will power, being emotional, one may go in the wrong direction while using determination one is very clear about what one is doing so is on the right track. Right track here means performance matching the direction of his well defined and accepted goal.

Here Goal is important Maria. Even a bad guy will use his determination to fulfill his goal. And a good person will achieve his people benefitting goals again by using his determination.

Determination means, they have logical (correct and relevant) information and their decision is based on that. As in movies the bad guys have their clear cut goal to kill somebody or to make money through smuggling or other illegal activities. Normally the Don himself is very very cool because he is determined and attacks at the right moment. While in will power decision is based on ego and is emotional. People who use will power at times repent later. And the Don is rarely emotional.

My held view is that the actions of a person are driven by his/her Will Power, just like he/she can drive a car calmly and correctly or in a reckless fashion! both have their consequences.

I think will power is like muscles and these muscles are dependent on our Desires, The stronger our desires are, the stronger our "WILL" will be. our desires ignites our "WILL" muscles. It could be positive or Negative.
There are exercises to improve our "WILL" power, basically, what we do is, we make our believe firm that the desires we have is possible to be fulfilled and so our WILL power gets stronger and the Action get easier and less pain full. Now all our muscles of our Body and "WILL" power work together and only message comes out is " I got it, I got it, I got it" .

Your views on this topic are refreshing and they are as valid
as everyone else's, and being different in the way we think,
the way we express ourselves is what makes us grow in
tolerance, and thus, wisdom. Trouble arises wnen some
people take differences opinons as a personal atack, and thus,
even though they may not realise it they are reacting instead
of acting in a pondering calm way, and allowing for the difference,
which is what rreally makes life so interesting.
