Hello everybody!

When I just started practicing visualisation, it
sometimes happened to me that, while I was trying to visualise
positive images, negatif images "came into my mind".
For example: when I tried to see myself as a confident person, I saw
myself being shy...
As I continued practicing visualisation, this happened lesser and lesser
and now I can visualise positive images without any problems Smile.
One of my friends though who is also using visualisation, told me
that he is currently having this same "problem". When he tries to
visualise himself as an attractive person, he sees the image of an
ugly person,...
Is there anything you can recommend him in order to avoid this
problem? I've had this problem myself so I know how fustrating it can
be...

Greetings Vincent and Welcome

To answer your question it's simple: What you put your attention on grows, so, whilst you practise your visualizations and what you have been experiencing...what I suggest you do is: when those negaive thoughts come, don't try to shake them off or give them up; to do so is to give them attention thus make them stronger, but if instead you just favour your other thoughts, the positive ones, not by trying to give up the negative thoughts but by gently diverting your attention to positive thoughts.

Eventually, the negative thoughts will die a natural death due to little or no attention being given to them, so, you don't give up the negative thoughts because the simple act of trying to give them up involves giving them attention, thus they grow; lack of attention will phase them out, and also because whilst you neglect attention to the negatives, your atention is focused on the positive, so the positive is what grows stronger.

Trying hard to give something up doesn't work, it only frustrates you, the oposite is what works.

Hi,
I would say that you should get better relaxation method, pay attention to details of your movie - you can use pictures or short movies.
And remember details, details details
I heard there is on the market software that help you create slide show, so you can view on the screen of your monitor.
